Is there a way to find out where DF members are? it would be a good reference for those people interested in or going to visit a particular country and would like to know some of the places for dancing.

That concerns privacy, I know. But you could add a script that could map the traffic between continents or regions, of course.

I think something has changed with the new software, because I remember listing US as my location, and it would show up on the posts, but it doesn't anymore.

right...it no longer shows on the individual posts but I think it does show on the profile

I think it was kinda useful when you could see location next to the post. I think some of the arguments we were having lately partially stemmed from the cultural differences between European and American posters. Since most posters are from US, it appears to be automatically assumed that American cultural norms apply, and when an overseas poster challenges them, it can turn unpleasant.

Just go to the male mind thread (maybe the last 5 pages of it). One quite active poster on it is from uk, I believe, and what he thinks is normal wrt male-female interactions is somewhat different from what we americans think is normal. Just my opinion.

Thanks Dancementor to post the useful statistics of which country has highest visiting members, very interesting. Somehow I also see some members choose not to disclose where they live on their profile page, not sure if these members included in the statistics or the DF software have a way to track, just curious.

Like all websites, we can see the IP address of a user. From there we can find the general location of that IP address (ex. the city, not your street address!)
