Freestyle Schools

I didn't even know that there were variations of the dance. However, I need something for family/social gatherings and clubs.

Welcome to the Forums, jtravolta!

I'm not from New York and can't really help with which studios offer what, but I would suggest simply calling the studios and asking what they offer. Tell them what you are hoping to accomplish by taking dance lessons and they can probably get you in the right direction.

All the best!

Depends on what type of gatherings you have - background - culture. For instance some have traditional folk dances. Then there are the ballroom dance sof waltz, foctrot and tango common with my folks at New Years and other "big" nights.

Hmm. Let me think about this awhile. Sagitta has a point, though. A lot depends on your background and your location. For example, where I live, country and western dances -- line dances plus waltz, rumba, cha cha -- are very popular.

But there are backgrounds, especially, where C&W dance will get you laughed out of the club. So I'm not sure how to help, without a little more information.

In my social circle freestyle and hustle seem to be prevalent and hip. Therefore I would like to learn those styles. I am looking for schools in new york that teach these styles on weekends since I work on weekdays. I would like to take group classes. Thanks.
