I went to New Zealand! Gorgeous place. Dancing has taken me far and wide and I can't even explain what a fantastic time I had. The dancing in New Zealand is slowly improving, I hear. when I went I noticed a lot of promise and some very joyful dancers. The shows, especially Saturday and Sunday, were really amazing. SO full of spirit. I've rarely seen that amount of cohesive, energetic unity. There was a tremendous amount of soul on the stage.

Anyone here from New Zealand?

Yeah I was there. I went to some workshops last year, but this year I got a full pass and fully picked the classes to goto. I had such a blast. There were some really good classes, but I think the highlight, was to push myself, and dance with people like Little Liz, Bruju and Ryoko.

I just got back from living in New Zealand for two years. I am originally from San Francisco. I was in Nelson in the South Island. I was fortunate enough to teach classes with Annie Giles and Stayz. Stayz has a performance group for kids and adults that he takes all over the world, I would assume that they would have performed there. I am really glad to here how much you enjoyed it. It is truly a beautiful place with some amazing people. But the salsa scene was a little slow for me in the south island.

Arrrgh, no I didn't. I had a few really hilarious experiences with other pros though. But i'm going to be a pain in the knat and not elaborate at this time :p

Stayz's STAR academy did indeed perform. It was an absolute blast!. There were so many kids, they took up the whole stage, and the isles and the second floor. Everywhere I saw, there were kids performing. At the social, I was asked for a dance by some of the kids. Loved their attitude. There was also this really nice scene, where Annie got up, and just yelled out "there's my girl". She looked so proud. :)

There were a lot of proud parents there. Annie was all smiles. And Stayz, once he relaxed a bit, enjoyed himself too. That WAS a full stage. It was funny though, all through the congress, Albert and I were saying "I love salsa!" to each other.

I loved the attitude of EVERYONE. So warm and proud and happy.
