Girl's Role in the Cross body

stay with the rhythm and move into the open space that the lead just opened up by stepping out of the way.

there shouldn't be any question as to which foot to move next (usually the left)... simply move into the open path. don't worry about looking at the man he'll lead you when its time to turn and face him.

what seems to be the problem?

I want to learn how the girl moves during the cross buddy.

Dude, you just seriously made my day... I have not laughed out loud all day long until now... thank you

So what are the steps the girl takes in this section, this being the 2nd half of the cross buddy????

Lady steps forward w/ left foot, stepping past the man, begins to pivot and does a half CCW turn so she is now facing the man (who has done a half turn as you described).

Can't help you, chook. I don't have any cross buddies.

Seriously, I think the best thing you can do is find another class as soon as possible. You can't learn to dance by reading or talking about it, far less teach it to somebody else.

Rosa :)

take it one step at a time...

step 1:
lead steps forward with left
follow steps back with right

step2:
lead rocks back to right
follow rocks back to left

step3:
lead steps back with left, turns 1/4 to the left
follow steps slightly forward with right

step 4:
lead rocks back on right, turns 1/4 to left
follow steps forward with left, turns 1/2 left somewhere between step 4 and 5

step 5:
lead rocks forward on left
follow steps side (or back) on right

step 6:
lead brings right to left, steps on right
follow bring left to right (or steps back slightly), steps on left

this is just a simple breakdown of CBL there's a lot of different ways to do it.

where do you get stuck? which step?

The way I was taught to do a CBL is like this;
The follow steps back, for the start of her basic. On three, her left foot stays on the ground(just the toes/ball of the foot part) and she does a little twist where her left knee goes in, then she does the turn. When I dance, the leads have their hand on my waist and accent that little twist. Some guys have tried to turn me halfway around here and this is wrong. A little twist is pretty and makes the turn smooth.

not looking to argue just looking for clarification... on "3" which foot is the weight on for the follow?

On the right foot.

The first time I heard the expression it was slurred so badly by my latino buddy that I thought it was "Cross-by lead".

*giggle* I have a feeling you have quite a few friends patrolling these DF threads.

I guess this is what happens when you have a dance in one language and dance terminology in another. *shrug*

But he's a college student. They don't study much, these days.

Just when I was telling my mother how idiotic some of the college kids(here in Japan) are these days, on comes Jay Leno who happened to be interviewing some uni kids in So Cal. When asked what books she was presently reading, a perky co-ed answered "Of Mice and Men". When Leno asked he what it was about, she replied "Oh, about a mice."

eh...apparently, she didn't get pass the cover page!

but seriously, if OP went to the same university as i did, i'm starting to wonder what happened after i graduated! I know we underwent several budget cuts, but to compromise the quality of our education is just rediculous!
