Going to Venice -- Italy

Hi all!

In 2 weeks I'm getting married (YAY!!) :bouncy:and will be honeymooning in Venice, Italy. My fiance, is part of a singing group that sang at the Vatican last year and they got invited back for additional concerts and since he had to be there for that, we decided a honeymoon ending with his concert would be an amazing opportunity.

Anyhow, while he's in rehearsal for a day, I have time to go shopping. There aren't alot of ballroom stores here in Central Florida and I've recently discovered Ray Rose shoes. I'd like to take the opportunity to try on new types of shoes, so I can order them later online and be sure of what I was getting. I was wondering if anyone would know of a way to find stores that sell different overseas shoe sellers? I've tried your basic Google search but nothing comes up.

Congratulations, and have a wonderful trip! I'm sure you'll love it; Venice is just so beautiful.

I have to laugh. You Know You're Addicted To Dancing When...you go to Venice, to a city known for incredibly glass and lace, and you want to look at more ballroom shoes. Ha! ;):D

Er...no idea about an answer to your original question. But be sure to look at the glass (on Murano, a very nice boat ride from the main city) and the lace (on Burano--also a short ride from the main city and Murano). They're also both great little islands to go wandering around and just enjoying the sights. Brightly colored quaint houses and all that. One of them (can't remember which) has this awesome church tower--bright blue, I think--that's leaning very precariously. Or at least it was leaning precariously 10 years ago...I suppose it could have fallen or been fixed since then.

Ahhh...so jealous.

Venice is awesome. I've been there several times. It is a tad expensive as far as shopping goes, but if you are there for a while, you can take a train to Padua (Padova in Italian) and shop there. It's cheaper. That city has some interesting landmarks, too (like 12-th or 13-th century chapel with frescoes by someone famous). If you google beforehand, you might even find a store that sells dance supplies there. I doubt there are any in Venice itself, they are more oriented towards glass.

Btw, feel free to PM me if you have questions about Venice and I'll dig up more info.

I have to admit to having the same reaction! When I saw the title, I thought, oh, maybe I can offer some places to see having been to Venice, and loved it. Then reading about wanting to find a dance shoe store...and I thought, can't help there, but there's an addiction for 'ya!!!!! (meant in a good way!!)

Hi all!

Stillharbor, congratulations and best wishes! I can't help you with your dance shoe request in Venice (dance shoes were not on my shopping list when I visited that amazing city) but I would love to know how your future husband got to sing at the Vatican! It is definitely on my wish list of things to do.

I would LOVE to go to Italy just for the shoes. They make the best shoes in the world. But then there's the art, food...

I wear Paoul shoes for dance, the semi-custom ones because my feet are so difficult to fit and the company is very accomidating. Expensive, but happy feet are worth it. They're made in Itay. I don't know where their factory is in relation to Venice or if they have outlets near it in Italy but here's the main website in English. You could send a message and ask. They've responded promptly to my questions.
