I am a beginner dancer so I can't comment personally -- but there's some argument to be made that there's a crossover already happening:
Zouk itself has fused with Lambada in Brazil creating Zouk-Lambada, a fairly popular style (see the wikipedia article:

And Lambada draws on samba:
"The word lambada refers both to the rhythm - a fusion of Carimbó and merengue - and to the dance, which incorporates elements of forró, samba, merengue and Maxixe (the 19th century Brazilian dance which was a tremendous success in Europe)." So I don't see why not...
