So many things I'm grateful for these days...in no particular order:
1. my firstborn daughter gave birth to her firstborn daughter last week! I'm a happy & proud grandma now. I got to spend the whole first postnatal week with them. My daughter and her wife are doing great, are ecstatically happy with their darling perfect child and doing a great job parenting, and I'm so excited to see their family blossom. (I just wish they lived closer than a 5-hour one-way drive from us.)
2. I'm at a point in my career where I can take a week off on short notice, when I get a call from my daughter on Sunday night: "my water just broke. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."
3. I have a staff attorney who is willing and able to drop everything & rearrange her schedule to cover Monday's court hearings for me, when I text her early on Monday morning that my daughter is in labor and I need to leave town asap.
4. my daughter and her wife have great health insurance.
5. my health insurance is less great, and it sucks in Jan-Mar every year when I have to meet my deductible before they pay for ANYTHING, but I'm fortunate that I can pay for my own obscenely ridiculously absurdly priced prescriptions in the meantime.
6. I bought a smooth dress when I was at Heritage this past weekend! It wasn't planned in advance; I wasn't in the market or actively looking; but a friend of mine posted on FB that she was trying to sell a certain dress of hers, and it would be at Heritage if anyone wanted to try it on...so I texted her, arranged a try-on, and HOLY COW IT IS THE BEST DRESS I'VE EVER OWNED and I will never want a different one. OK, probably that last bit isn't true. How about: ...and I will never find a dress that fits me better than this one does, or is more flattering or more well-made. (the color sorta kinda qualifies as "blue," but it's more like a mint/pale turquoise...I've decided to name the color "glacier ice" just to say something other than "blue." My pro LOVES LOVES LOVES it! As do I. I'm ready to compete in it soon! (Short video on my recent lessons playlist shows the new dress in action.)
