Great dance communities?

I would describe a great dance community as one that is open/welcoming to people of all levels of dance ability and where newcomers quickly feel a sense of belonging. There are no strong cliques that serve as barriers. One example that I have is Palante, a group/community in the Ithaca area: http://www.rso.cornell.edu/palante/index.html

What do you think makes a great dance community? Do you have any examples of such communities?

i LOVE this site and the ideas in it. i also checked out the Youtube channel. excellent stuff!

but i wonder if these ideas can be translated to a grassroot community?
any thoughts?
