Grey in a colorful Tango World

The really most interesting thread I recently read on the internet (facebook) was a discussion by well known (female) tango teachers and DJanes on having grey, graying, or silver hair, or not. What is your opinion?

My hair looks sorta like the 1st one (in color and texture). Maybe it makes me look older to have it "mousy" streaked grey... I don't care. I'm not 25 anymore (or 35, or 45...) I'm not coloring it again.

Doesn't seem to prevent me from getting asked to dance, and I had one leader at a festival RAVE about how much he loved my hair. (I was bemoaning how hard it was to keep it under control and out of his face)

Wellll, the women in the pictures are beautiful, so I'm fine with it. Silvery hair on a younger woman can look really striking.

All the women above look beautiful. Gray hair has nothing to do with beauty, it has to do with the perception of age.
According to an evolutionary psychologist David M. Buss's book "The Evolution Of Desire: Strategies of Human Mating" men have in their hereditary (DNA) make up a desire to find a youthful mate, who can reproduce and continue their offspring. Obviously, he explains it in a much more clear way.

I understand that most of Tangueros and Tangueras are not looking for a mate in a Milonga, but this evolutionary trait is still there and affect who men would rather dance with.
This is a vast generalization and does not reflect mine or anybody's line of conscientious thinking, but I believe that grey hair subconsciously may work against being asked to dance.

I think it is too dark in most milongas to assess hair tint when it isn't either dramatically dark or blonde. (or blue, or purple).

The middle age factors that are probably working against older women go far beyond hair color, since many DON"T let their hair show gray and yet they still have trouble getting dances. We've even seen here on DF posts about a preference for a certain body shape and/or high heeled tango specific shoes. I don't think hair color has much to do with it.

I have been spotting a few grey hairs, too - i have to admit that i am actually somewhat looking forward to getting silver temples, it is such a good look. But I am somewhat worried that i don't have the right genes for that, or even a nice salt and pepper look. My fathers greying used to be somewhat patchy :(

I had the bride of Frankenstein thing for quite awhile. It's getting a little more diffuse now

I wonder if you and other people discussing their grey hair can post their pictures, so we can understand better what they are talking about...

I prefer to remain anonymous on DF for now. However, you and I are inthe same region, so we will probably meet at some point and you can decide then whether you want to dance with my hair or not. ;)
