Group practice in DC area

I am wondering what recommendations anyone might have for standard group practices in the DC area. What about the du shor studio's Wed & Sun practice?

Wow, it'd be great to have them locally:) Yep, those are group practice times that we go to, as do Joe and Skwiggy. The Du Shor practices (Sun. at 7:30-10 and Wed. from 8:30-10) are very well-run and pretty competition oriented. There are also practices at Strathmore Concert Hall in Rockville/Bethesda area, metro-accessable (if they don't have a car) but the floor is sorta square-ish so not as ideal for competition practice as Du Shor.

I also know that the Pilipenchuks run a standard practice session on Fridays in their Studio in Towson.

Who will your kids be taking from in DC?

Yes, very good size floor (although there are these pesky poles in the middle that tend to get in the way).

Well, DC certainly does not have the caliber instruction that NYC does (not even close!) but we make do with what we have:) We like our coach a LOT but I am not sure she's everyone's cup of tea... We do get good visiting coaches, some from NYC, some from elsewhere but they'd need to connect with whoever it is that brings them into the area (DC and Baltimore) to even find out when they're here... Slava and Katya Sergiev in Baltimore and Igor and Polina in Towson (near Baltimore) do most of that. Connie Paley comes to Chevy Chase Ballroom sometimes as does Bill Davies I think.

Please check your PM. I have a few more questions. Thanks!

Its definetly accessible. You can take 495 to 95 north and 695 towards towson. Its about an hour drive with no traffic doing like 75mph. Or you can take route 29N to I-70 to 695 for a shortcut.

I go to NJ for lessons and NY for practice almost every week so I know what its like to drive that long just to dance for a few hours.

DuShor and Strathmore are both accessible by DC public transportation. To get to Atlantic, they would need to have a car or find a ride. Check you PMs.

Nik, she asked about access via the DC metro which, as far as I know does not go to Towson;)

Oh sorry, I was thinking you were talking about the area. I go racing there and we refer to it as DC Metro area. So yeah thats out of the question then.

Sounds like you and star gazer's kids could team up and go to NY/NJ together.
