I hav'nt been posting a lot lately. I've been busy with this thing called life.
To alleviate the drudgery of my existence, I've been AT'ing a lot in and around the Seattle Milongas.
Recently, I had an epiphany. I watched other people dance. I watched the professionals do their thing. I did my thing. My steps were flawless, my form impeceable. My partners looked even better. But, there was something not quite right.
As I danced, I got tired, and basically took one of my regular partners, and just "Walked" to Vuelo al Sur. Lo and behold... It turned out to be one of the most beautiful dances I have ever done!!!
It was nothing fancy, no complicated footwork, no sacadas, no molinetes, no ganchos, no ochos... just walks. The difference was the connection. It was warm, firm and for the first time, I was able to reach my goal of "One body, four legs."
It was the proverbial "Poetry in motion," and it was beautiful. The connection made for synchronized, synchopated motion. It made for the conversation of two bodies without words. It made for "Less is more." It was like spiritual enlightenment.
It's hard to describe and hard to explain. Whatever it was, it was beautiful, and all because of THE CONNECTION.
