Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

I've spent a couple of days cutting paper from a paper pack for a new set of cards. The variety in the paper pack is inspiring, and I've had no lack of ideas. But the paper pack has a head scratcher - a sheet of paper featuring koi fish. While koi fish wouldn't be my first, second or last choice for paper, well, I'm going to make it work for a card. Another sheet of paper is a wavy blocks of graduating colors, which could suggest land or water depending on how it's cut. I'll use the blue and grey parts to suggest water. Surprisingly, I have 4 koi fish stickers that came with the coordinating sticker pack, so I have three the card and one for the eventual envelope. I also have another blue/grey sticker that suggests water that I can use. I'm looking for an inspirational saying, like follow your own path or go your own way, definitely not keep swimming or stay away from the sharks.

What to do with the completed koi fish card? I have a long time friend that I'll send it to. He'll get a laugh out of it.

Koi are traditionally symbolic of a lot of good things, like strength of character, courage, perserverence, good fortune, longevity, etc. They are also beautiful, live a long time, and some fancy varieties are very valuable/expensive. They are a very positive symbol, though of course someone not fond of fish, or familiar with that part of Asian culture may not realize it.

Thank you, the information is very helpful. I'll go with a positive good fortune message. I have stickers with inspirational words and phrases, so I'm sure I have something appropriate. I'll admit, I don't know the first thing about koi fish symbolism.

I went with two contrasting papers to go with the koi paper, for layering. One is the wavy paper to suggest water that I mentioned before, and the other is white with navy dots. I also have a watercolor moody blue paper for inside the card, where I would write something. I cut the paper this morning, and everything looks good together so far.

I looked more closely at the coordinating stickers for the paper pack, and found 3 likely candidates:

- Believe in yourself, in white and black letters on a watery grey blue background
- I have the power to create the life I desire, in gold letters on a pink background
- All I need is within me, in gold letters on a peach and white vine background

I am leaning towards the first one for the koi card, and I'll use the other two on other cards from the paper pack. I don't want anything to go to waste.

Yesterday at Ulta, I bought a travel spray size of Eilish, a new perfume from Billie Eilish. The scent makes me think of what a warm vanilla hug would feel like. I love vanilla, so that's why I wanted to try the perfume.

I noticed Ulta is now carrying Fenty, Rihanna's cosmetic line. The display is near the front, where the Kylie display, by Kylie Jenner, used to be. Ulta only had a few Fenty products, and I wasn't interested in any.

Actually, I was proud of myself that all I bought was the travel spray perfume. I don't need really need anything. I organized all the extra products I have, like travel size mascaras, eyeliners, or stuff that came in sample boxes or gifts with purchases, and when I need something, I "shop" there. I did the same thing with skin care and hair care items. It's been a highly effective way to use up all these small size and/or random products.
