Happy and/or random thoughts #5

When I’d repotted the orchid in its special-orchid-pot-with-the-holes-in-the-sides, I was at the same platform where I’d done my tomato seeding. Well….I guess I hadn’t cleaned off the platform as well as I’d thought before I did the orchid repot.

Because there is a tomato seedling sprouting in the orchid bark.

This is both random and happy (uncharacteristic of me, I know):

I just recently discovered a feature of Sirius XM in my almost-one-year-old vehicle where I can ask Sirius to notify me if the song I'm currently listening to plays again in the future - I can check a box for either that particular song or the artist. I am loving this feature (I've checked the box for a bunch of songs now). I have to be on the Sirius screen (so not in maps, etc) in order to see the notification pop up and it's brief, but it is the best when I'm listening to a meh song (b/c nothing else good was on) and suddenty there's that banner that "Shut Up and Drive" or "Die Young" is playing elsewhere and all I have to do is click on "listen" and it hops me right over to that song.

Some technological advances really do improve life. :)

I don't know the song, but "Shut Up and Drive" would be what Sirius would be saying to me if I started looking at the screen and making conversation with it about music choices, given my unfortunately less-than-perfect driving ability :jawdrop:.

It's Rihanna, I will leave googling as an exercise for the reader. There's a subtext to the song that seems to be about an activity other than driving a vehicle.

Latin coaches got back from Blackpool just in time for 13 year old to take one lesson on Saturday before doing the showcase on Sunday.

At the end of the showcase, he bowed and immediately walked off, leaving his partner stranded on the floor. My wife and I had the same reaction - he got that from me!
Does that mean you're going to lovingly correct it?

Nondance happy thought: 13 year old got the math award at middle school graduation. Nice to see some recognition from the school for things like academics, and not just things like not fighting at the middle school dance last week (at which there was incidentally no partner dancing, sigh).

The math teacher presenting the award said something about math being about things like showing one’s work, and not just getting the right answer. Ironic given 13 year old definitely prioritizes getting the right answer.

Weird bit of randomness: some dad of another kid also moving on from middle school shook my hand on the way out. I guess he was treating the award as kind of a competitive thing?
