Has anyone ever been to a dance/campout?

I was looking for feedback on the idea of hosting a campout/dance this fall. Both are forms of recreation, weekend activities, and are known to be enjoyable. The land I would host this on would be flat and of course being grass I would suggest sneakers rather than dance shoes. It seems that a community environment would result in people from different dancing studios I go to coming to this event to socialize and practice dancing under the sun/stars. Should alcohol be allowed or not? Any suggestions about improving terrain for dancing, type music to play, ability to improve sound quality in an outside environment, type lighting system, anything to help with bugs, anything else?

My friends and I have been having dance party campouts for years. Well, we bring techno/house/electro/reggae/downtempo/breakbeat/etc.etc.etc. music rather than partner dance music, but it's still kind of the same idea. We're lucky in that we've got access to an organic farm with a flat cleared space for dancing in, a big garden for lounging in, fresh spring water for drinking, a permanent outdoor camp kitchen, a barbeque pit, flush toilets, outdoor wood-fired hot tubs, a manmade swimming pond, and outdoor cold water showers. It's heavenly.

See if there is a campground around that has the facilities you need, and rent the entire campground out for the weekend for your party.

I've never done one of these, but it sounds like it could be a lot of fun provided the weather doesn't interfere and surface is pretty level.

Thanks Laura

I am not sure I can provide as good of services as you are used to. But it is comforting for you to tell me of the enjoyment you receive via campout. It is inspirational (and not surprising) that the campout/dance is an event already occurring. Naturally in light of history dancing took place a great deal on the outside of shelter. Let us hope I am not dealing with people who cannot at least attempt to deal with the joys of nature while performing Salsa/Swing/Tango/etc. And for anyone else please suggest.
