Ok, I have a question, again, sorry, but you guys are fantastic. I've gotten such good advice and help from all of you thank you in advance.
Ok, I know you told me so, so I'm not going to complain, it's my own fault. My Pro flaked big time. We were scheduled to go to dancing a la carte. Myself and another one other lady. 5 of my friends were changing their schedules to come see me dance and support Jean Marc's charity.
I left him the entry fees and the ticket money before we left for a week vacation. I come home the check is not cleared, the deadline was May 1st this is May 5th. I left many vociemails and e-mails and all I got were a couple of class cancellations no response till the 8th finally he says he can't go because he has to be there because his family needs his moral support.
I know I'm lucky he didn't pass my check for $1900 but still I got scrwed royally. My friends were coming and my husband arranged some business meetings around this in the area and now we are paying tripple to go to another hotel becuase unlike my Pro he is reliable with clients.
Anyway, the major question is, if I would have known in time, would a Pro like someone from SuperShag or any other person here recommnend. I only use that name because I remember it from la Classique no slights intended, if I would have paid him to dance with me, would he had done it.? Has anyone hired a Pro in the last minute to dance in a competition.
I would have paid for time even travelling expenses and his hotel room was guaranteed by me, do you know if a pro would do a comp with me even though I don't take lessons with him?
I would have been willing to arrive a day early even, if there was hotel space (probably was) and paid for practice time with the Pro.
This comp meant a lot to me for many reasons and he flaked (no surprise) and I'm not whining, as it's my own fault, you all warned me.
I thought he straigtened out, we had a chat, he was doing well and in 3 months didn't have any cancellations other than a request for a time change but I did that too so I'm ok with little things, even a cancellation once in a while is fine. I have to do it myself sometimes.
Anyway, no whiing, the point is would a Pro, even a top name one, come to dance if I pay his fee and travelling expenses if there are any.
Obviously if it's NYC and I'm hiring someone from NYC I don't expect to pay for hotel room.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
