I remember watching a handful of tango couples on the Prado. I think in 2010 or 2011 and 2012, all very young. I didn’t participate. My level was very basic and I was always on my way somewhere when I stumbled upon it. I always meant to come back one day. A very beautiful place to dance. Their scene was very new back then.

It's always difficult to have your expectations met when you build something up. That said, I doubt that the "true soul" of tango can be agreed upon, but where are some cities which, right now, are great places to tango? I'm asking with the spirit of planning some solo trips as a male leader who is getting better, almost emerging from beginners hell, but would still classify myself as an improver rather than intermediate

I mean, I can't say for sure that it would be a good idea for anyone else, but my one-year tango anniversary present to myself was a trip to Buenos Aires, and it was the best thing I could possibly have done for my tango.

How long did you go for?
Yesterday a woman from the Big Island of Hawaii, who spends her summers in Portland, told me that she finds the city to be tango heaven.

The first time, just a fortnight (though I did nothing but dance, so managed to dance at 25 milongas in that time), and was planning my next trip before I even left. My subsequent visits were for a month each.

But is it just during summers? Because the outdoor milongas kinda go away when it starts em raining
Today they was someone else who comes to Portland in the summer. I'm pretty sure people come here in the summer because there are lots of great places to visit and the weather is almost always good in July, August and September. Attendance was very light at Alex's today but that's pretty normal for most dance venues this time of year. Still, I guess compared to the Big Island ... DIdn't find out where the other guy was from, but has has a son here.
So, I'm guessing it's not just during summer that people find a lot of places to dance AT. My friend keeps mentioning other places she goes or would like to go.

Good choice. Except for Paris, where I didn't dance, I can confirm all the suggestions. Unfortunately, Milan is a bit reserved.
