ah but finding a followere who would dance well to Pugliando..now there's the rub.....
... easier than finding someone to dance Biagi's Belgica, methinks.
Ask questions, meet dancers, and be part of the conversation.

This is pretty much how I feel. While I'm perfectly fine with a milonga with no alternative music, there are plenty of other songs that create some kind of emotional response, where I'm happy to tango to it.I completely agree. It's beautiful music, no doubt about it.
I guess part of my liking for alternative (and I don't just mean electronic stuff like Gotan, etc....I mean, say, the Black Eyed Peas or Bob Marley or Beethoven or Lady Gaga) is that, in the same way that I listen to different music to suit different moods, I want to dance to different music to suit different moods. Perhaps if I knew ballroom dancing, I'd dance some BR dance to the different music...but I don't, I know tango, so I dance tango to it. Well, would, if given the chance. It's just fortunate that AT gives me a vocabulary and a structure that is flexible enough.
And I just like AT better.
I know D, but actually the differences between the styles of the golden age (which someone labelled as only one style) are greater than the differences between nuevo, neo, elctro a.s.o. which he put into one glas. So some guys around here seem to be blind on one eye only, and actually I really got a little bit angry about that fact.
...rather than scoring points by being pedantic...
I wonder if I'm in a minority of liking both trad and alternative...
