Healthy Dance Shoes?

Hi Everyone,

I've been exploring the world of barefoot/minimalist shoe running, which endorses natural and unrestricted foot movement. I was wondering if there are dance shoes made with a wide toe box and minimal heel rise? I'm a guy and dable in salsa and argentine tango, social dancing. For salsa it's pretty casual, so perhaps customizing the sole of a minimalist shoe (for more slippage) is best. But what about unrestricted dance shoes for something more classy such as Argentine Tango, with at least a wide toe box?

I don't think they have those kind of shoes, at least not yet. Right now your best bet would be dance shoes that resemble sneakers, I don't know what are those called, sorry!

Thanks for the reply laucy, I was considering doing something similar to what you mentioned. Taking a pair of sneakers and adding a suede sole to it.

I have a pair of Capezio dance sneakers and while they are quite comfortable, they have a noticeably high arch and look dorky. A friend has a pair of Sashas (?) Pashas (?) whatever, with a much lower arch such that they look much more like "normal" dance shoes.

YMMV.

Someone posted on another thread a new Bloch dance sneaker that looks much like a regular sneaker. Not sure what thread that was though....
