Hello Fellow Dance Natives - Please Involve Your Keen Minds

I am considering releasing and marketing a hypothetical dance DVD media product.

My college requires me to spout the following simple 5 questions to the best dance forum online!:

1. Where do you gain your inspiration for dance from? (events, films, magasines...etc)

2. Where do you buy DVDs and videos from?

3.How much would you pay for a DVD or VHS dance product?

4.Does the packaging effect your choice of purchase (or do you know what you wnat no matter)?

5.What do you prefer to watch - couples or singlular dances

If you want to know more, or help me further - then please leave me a private message.

Thankyou all very much!

Dear Sebo Soft:

1. Where do you gain your inspiration for dance from? (events, films, magasines...etc) Mostly, from watching other dancers, or professional performances.

2. Where do you buy DVDs and videos from? I really don't, as I find it nearly impossible to learn anything dance-wise from a video.

3.How much would you pay for a DVD or VHS dance product? Not really applicable (see No. 2), but I will buy dance-themed movies, and my max price for a movie would be about $20 US.

4.Does the packaging effect your choice of purchase (or do you know what you wnat no matter)? No, if it's what I want, I'm going to buy it.

5.What do you prefer to watch - couples or singlular dances It depends on the dance. Ballet can be danced as a solo, pas de deux, trio, or en masse. Tango is usually danced as a pas de deux, but there are exceptions (trios, solos, ensemble numbers).

Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.

Re: Hello Fellow Dance Natives - Please Involve Your Keen Mi

Welcome to DF sebosoft!

1. Where do you gain your inspiration for dance from? (events, films, magasines...etc)
My inspiration comes from being out and watching others and how much fun they're having...then grabbign my partner and having just as much fun, if not more, with him. The love of the dance and the feeling of freedom that it gives me keeps me inspired and coming back for more.

2. Where do you buy DVDs and videos from?
My local music stores or Costco. I spend enough time in them looking for music that I might as well pick up my movies there too...unless, of course, they're old, hard to find or out of print and then I go to Vintage Video. (a hole-in-the-wall store in Toronto that collects and imports the rare and hard to find stuff)

3.How much would you pay for a DVD or VHS dance product?
VHS: $12-$18 depending on quality and content
DVD: $18-$25, also depending on quality and content

4.Does the packaging effect your choice of purchase (or do you know what you wnat no matter)?
Packaging is likely to catch my eye if I'm wandering past without something specific in mind. However, if there's something specific I want, packaging won't matter to me unless it's extremely poorly done.

5.What do you prefer to watch - couples or singlular dances
It all depends on the choreography. One of my best dance memories was watching a competitive lyrical routine done to "When Doves Cry" by Prince. That dance made me love the song. However, watching Jean-Francois Messier and Mary Bolduc last weekend completely captivated me. So, it's all dependent upon presence and choreography.

Best of luck!
