HELP! Learning a different way..

I don't have a TON of experience in dancing, but what I have had has always been through a human instructor...

Now, I don't have that opportunity..
I have learned a couple dances off of youtube before...but when I was working on another, I made a HUGE mistake..

I had originally been learning off of the dance version and had the first part mostly down, but then I found the "flipped" version and thought it would have been easier...

Now I am all confused about the movements....should I continue learning it from the original or the "flipped"???

Any advice would be well appreciated! :)

YouTube can be a valuable resource, but if you're forced to use video for learning I'd recommend purchasing an actual video syllabus and/or instructional DVD.

I don't think that's particularly hard. Work on one small segment at a time of that youtube video that you provided and you will get it. So take first 5 seconds and keep on replaying, working firts on feet, then on hands then....so on and so on...

I only just started dancing through my choreographer for musicals this past year; so the dance is a bit more complex than I am used to...probably because I've never really been taught "how to dance" or because I've always learned from the person's backside...

Thanks for the help though! I have the first 45ish seconds down, but that's the easy part....long road ahead..

i still don't know which movie to learn from though... =[

Depends on why you're learning this particular dance.

If it is for performance with a group, you should use the flipped version. Otherwise you'll be moving the opposite way of everyone else.

If it's for individual performance, the original version is probably OK to learn from. It won't matter much whether you do a step with your left foot or move stage left when in the video they are actually stepping or moving right. Your audience will have nothing to compare it to. I didn't watch the whole clip, so there may be something in the choreography that requires you to dance the "flipped" way, but I doubt it.

You might want to be careful where you perform it. Copyright laws and all.
