im 13 years old and don't know how to dance at all! In 7th grade the only dancing I'll be doing is school dances, but i want to start learning anyway! I have no idea where to start, so could somone help me out?

Thanks!

Hi CF!!! Welcome. I'm way sorry, but it's past my normal bedtime (I'm old and boring) so I'll post an answer in the AM, after I get some rest and can make more sense. LOL. See you in the AM.

In the meantime, let me say this. You can dance. Middle school and high school dances are a total no-brainer. You can do them as well as or better than anyone. So don't sweat it. 8)

Welcome, Cheezyfries!
Any idea of what KIND of dance you want to do? I don't know how big a city you are living in but you could check the yellow pages for dance schools. Some community centers offer lessons to residents of that city, and they are cheap if not free. I teach university and a lot of the students are really interested in hip-hop, especaily the guys. Some of the girls are into jazz dance. You might have to try out a few different styles before you actually figure out which one(s) is right for you!

thx for the welcome everyone! And to answer your question cocodrilo, hip-hop

o ya i live in Omaha, Nebraska (boring :( )

As much as I hate to point out the obvious, the first step would be to check out any local studios, and see if they offer any hip-hop classes.

Or try taking a teen class that features Salsa/Mambo, Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba. If you learn both the lead and follow for these you can even show them to your friends! 8)

And then try learning waltz! :)
