Hi all! :D
So this is the dress I am considering getting.. I may change a couple things on it. My question is this. I would be getting it unstoned. What stone colors and/or type of pattern would you suggest??
I do not have any experience with this..
Thank you DFers!

Something that echoes the interesting strapping pattern on the back might work well (i.e. use the mirror image across the butt area into the fringe-y part, and repeat this on the front of the dress like an off-center starburst). Color-wise I think it's your own personal preference. Plain crystal, or green, or black?

okay, call me a loon but I would go with shades of greeen and BLACK...and I would stone diagonally in the opposite direction of the slant of the hemline

Try to find a color wheel somewhere, and look to see what is not only opposite (180 degrees) but also complimentary (90 degrees in each direction) from that color. I can see lots of possibilities. For instance, purple and green. Or orange. Or some shades of pink. Really, the sky and the available rhinestone colors is the limit!

I have a friend who got a dress this color for standard and stoned it with this kind of grey-purple and dark purple stones - it was gorgeous.

Ok so here is another question... I showed this dress to my best dancing friend for her opinion and she said that she did not think it was a good color. :( I am using this for a samba routine, but I would probably also use it for rhythm competition as well... She said that it was "too soothing" of a color and suggested something "more fiery" such as an orange.
Any opinions in this?? I trust the opinions of you DFers ;)

You could add some "fire" with your rhinestone colors. But I agree with Laura, go with what looks good on you and makes you feel good.

I agree as well. The most imortant thing is what looks good on you and what you feel good in. After that, the stoning you do as well as the make up, hair color, and hair style you use are all more than enough to add pizzaz. Also keep in mind that if everyone subscribed to your friend's thinking then it would be self defeating, i.e. everyone would be wearing yellow/orange/red and hence not standing out from one another.

completely disagree...can't tell you how many times I have randomly heard people say very positive things about this color

I'd take what you friends tell you as a grain of salt, because my sister for instance doesn't like Latin costumes period lol, so I learned to stop showing her my outfits lol. I always tell people to picture the outfits with my hair and makeup done etc. Then they are always like in awe over everything. However, if more than one person tells me that the outfit does not look good on me, then I won't even consider the option especially if it's the director or someone that knows me really well. They are probably seeing something that I'm not, so I've learned to listen to them that way. ;)

P.S. I love that color!
