HipHop Dancing

Hi. I'm 15 years old and live in the Holstfield, Kansas.
I love hiphop dancing but we don't have cable here and
can't see MTV, BET, or any other video channel. All dance
moves that we get are from award shows, movies, and other
outdated video rentals. A couple of months ago, my friend
and I started playing Dance Dance Revolution on Playstation II
which is kewl but no real dance moves. Last week, I found
a site which sells music videos dvds and bought two. Perfect!
I now have the newest videos with the newest dance moves
which I can play over and over. :D Now, I'm looking to find some
instructional books or magazines. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey alwhite. Welcome. :D If your username is anything at all like your real name, please, in the name of internet safety, delete your location from your post. Okay? Sorry. I have nieces and nephews your age, and I can't help worrying about you guys/gals. There are some crazy people on the web.

wow. It blows my mind that there are still people without cable access. Total bummer, because the dance segments you see on TV are so short that it's hard to make use of them.

Glad you got the videos. :D Any idea what you want to do next, to keep your dance growing? I'm assuming there're no hip-hop classes anywhere near you, either. :?

Gabe, 14, and Angelica, 10, both love hip hop. Angel had an awesome hip hop trio number last year and Gabe used to be on a performing hip hop team however had to take a break due to the extremely late practices on school nights.

Welcome to the Forum Family, alwhite!

Let me start by agreeing with pygmalion...you should remove your city and state from your original post. To do so, simply scroll up so your post is viewable on your screen. Now, on the far top right side of your post you should see a button that reads "update" or "review" or "edit" or something to that effect. Simply click that button, make the necessary change and submit.

If you're looking for dance resources...here are few things to give a try. First, check out www.dancersdreamland.com, which talks about anything and everything related to dance.

If you access the "Movie Madness"section, under the heading "Workout Videos" you will find links to external sites which have some excellent dance videos...including hip hop.

If you access the "Links" section, under the heading "Dance Publications" you'll find a rather large collection of various dance magazines both print and online version. I highly recommend Dance Spirit which covers many types of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, and usually a featured spotlight (hula, Irish, salsa, belly, line, clogging, etc.).

We look forward to see you on the Forum boards!
