Hey everyone..
So i have a problem... my partner and i are the same height and we do standard together. When i am doing a move i hit him right between the legs. i feel really bad when i do it and i wish that i could correct it and our coach doesn't know how to correct it. I reach back far and try not to but i just feel really bad when doing it.

Haha! I've done that many times! But seriously though... your instructor should know how to correct it. I don't do it as much any more, because I can hold my frame better, and when I do something like that, it's only because I had lost my frame position or something like that was off balance. And what about your leg positioning? But my instructor will correct me though with whatever happened at that time, because he still wants kids in his future lol. ;)

lol same with my partner and he plays around all the time saying that he is going to start wearing a cup.. understand im only 15 and he is 17 lol.. my teacher just says it could be cause we are too close together but we never do it on the compeition floor just when we are practicing and going really slow!!

lol.. reminds me of something that happened recently.. me and my dance partner were at a social and we were doing a jive. Well one of the moves was a series of pivots and we needed to do a backwards place before going into it. Anyway we collided dead centre rather than slightly off side for the move. Both our hip bones clicked and we nearly fell over, it was hilarious.

Heh... I feel your pain...:)

Having had the family jewels shaken AND stirred by an errant knee a fair bit, I've found that changing the elevation of the body contact point more towards the upper body(right at the point of the ribcage where the breast starts (not something a lot of coaches would probably agree upon, but hey, they are MY family jewels).
Seems to have helped (now, they're just near misses).
Haven't looked deeper into the why, but the higher contact seems to give a little bit more leeway for the lady's leg.

Probably should post this in the Gratitude thread . . . but it is related to this topic. Last night doing Smooth rounds at Champion (and it's a long story about how I got into this position), where a wonderful pro lady was about to do her kick facing - ME! Fortunately she had the presence of mind and ability to keep her leg bent. I owe her!

this used to happen to me alot...b/c pro and I are same height barefoot...(he is shorter when I am in heels)...so when we began standard my right leg was coming in contact with his uh crotch quite a bit...I have learned (as time has gone by) which moves this is most likely to happen on.....another thing is if you stop anticipating the routine and follow, and are careful not to let your center over shoot your foot, it will be less likely that you are going to get far enough into his space to knock them around forcefully, and uh, i am certain he won't mind a whisper soft contact...beyond that, stay low in those spots...just stay low...it'll get better...trust me...I spent many an emabarrassed moment on this forum about this issue

My partner and I have the problem of her right boob making contact occasionally with my chest. Ladies is this a problem for you?

i have yet to be kneed in the groin while dancing (been dancing 2 years now).. I guess I'm lucky :)

oh and waltzguy.. i've heard that the ladies are supposed to arch their backs so that boob contact doesn't happen.. but when it doe's don't fret.. at first it can be embarrassing, but in time you can both learn to ignore it when it doe's happen.

Ya know, I remember that thread. But I've just discovered something about searching for information no DF. Sometimes, we're so careful about how we write things that certain threads can be nearly impossible for someone to find later. This issue is a case in point. What unique words would have been used in that thread for which the OP (or anyone else) could have searched? I tried several search terms and came up empty. Sometimes, more explicit language in posts might make them more helpful later!

When your boobs are big it is!

But seriously, those of us with, ah, ample chests have a hard time keeping them off our partners. I, for instance, would have to be a contortionist to be able to arch my back enough to get my chest off pro's in Smooth/Standard.
