Hola salseros

Hola all, I thought I'd finally register after lurking for a bit. My name is Dee I'm 24 and have been dancing salsa on and off for around 4 years, but only started going regularly last year.

I haven't been to classes for around 2 years, the classes seemed to be very showy, and I just want to dance.
Last year, as I was planning my holiday to Cuba, I discovered Cuban salsa, I fell completely in love with it, and have been going to Cuban salsa clubs ever since.

I'll be on here quite a lot I think, as I'm a flight attendant and recently transferred to transatlantic flights, so I'll be trying to go out as much as possible. I'm in Denver next week, but can't seem to find anything for the day I'm there.

I'll stop now before this turns into an essay!!!

welcome!!! Glad you decided to join in!!!

the freedom of a body seeks a soul, yet class seems to teach it rules, when all it wants is to express itself, without any rules...

Hang on, hang on, you have felt it, now you are on for the ride of your life!!! Let the chills travel north/south, east/west!!! Ahhhh great to have another lover aboard!!

Welcome! ahhh .. a salsera after my own heart! VIVA CUBA y CUBAN TIEMPOS!! bring the heat on mamacita!! 8)

WELCOME! Cuban style is most definitely the COOLEST style(in my opinion, anyhow...)! AM I correct to assume you are not an American passport holder so that you can visit Cuba?(and not get hit up by the government for "fines" when you return) Have you been there yet? I am a US citizen(not residing in the US) and am planning on going there in the not too distant future.

Thank you all for the lovely welcome. So nice to see other Cuban salsa lovers out there!!
Borikensalsero, are you a poet? That was beautiful.

Squirrel, I've heard a few Puerto Rican salsa tracks, I quite like it, but timba definitely has my heart!

Cocodrilo, you're right I have a British Passport, and went to Cuba in January for a month. The one piece of advice I have for you if SAVE UP! Cuba is not cheap. You will dance every night though, and I now have a thing for live bands, as there is one every night. PM me for more details

?Que bola? Great to have another Cuban (live!) music addict amongst us 8) ! Hopfully I will be visiting Cuba next year as well.

I used to be a PR salsa addict until I caught Cuban Fever, directly caused by the visiting musical/dance show "Lady Salsa" (& the amazing time I got to spent with the cast, who taught me so much)..........after that, as they say, it's all history  ......

Wow, time with the cast, I'd love to hear more, were Yanet and Rafael still in it then? I never saw it :( , however it's on in Hamburg until August, and am thinking of going out to watch it for the night! 8) There's a festival this weekend in London, and there's going to be a live Cuban band, I can't tell you how excited I am.

Live Cuban music, I can sooooooo understand!

No, Yanet & Rafael didn't make it to Australia. I believe they stayed in London :? .

Some of the casts have also 'jumped ship' & stayed in either Melbourne (Alejandro), Sydney (Armandito) or NZ (Ruben), so you won't be able to catch them either.......but if you're gonna see the show, make sure you find out where the after party (gig by the band Sonora la Calle, at one of the local clubs) is held. That would be where you get to met/dance with the cast.

If you make it, pay close attention to Leo, the front singer. He's hot 8) ! And Tony (the other frnt singer, with the hat) is great too. Dance with ALL of them.....! Tell them La Chinita from Melbourne sends her besos  .
