Hi all:

Anyone planning on attending the Holiday Ball and Dance Camp is SF next week. I will be at the comp but not the camp. If you are going to be competing I would love to know so I can yell for you.

Yes indeed! One of the highlights of the year. When DW sent in our entries, we scheduled some private lessons from Olga Foraponova and Stephen & Izabella Hannah, etc. We will be competing also in a couple styles. Yelling is much appreciated!!

I can't believe it's closed to everyone except single guys already. I picked up the DanceVision catalog at the Holiday Classic and the ad for the camp had already been stamped over that it was closed.

Not that I have a problem, being a single guy and all. But, my dance partner kind of wanted to go this coming year. Oh well, guess I'll just have to tell her how it was.

;)

:headwall: The good news is that you CAN bring your dance partner, and demonstrate your sincerity! ( you were referring to another dance camp - please be more careful because you are providing bad information and inadvertently messing with your peers' fun and someone's business just days before it starts).

The OP clearly stated that this is concerning the Holiday Ball and Dance Camp in San Francisco (which also includes a Competition and the judges view the day following).

See you there!:car:

Having a great time

Lessons with Stephen Hannah are part of that legendary investment in feather step - he instantly knew what to do to get at our root problems (we're probably not the only ones!) and we enjoyed his continuous Scottish humor

And it gets even better - our lessons with Olga Foraponova are out of this world, she has us working on 'artistry' which we sorely needed. I had trouble 'getting it' in the group classes, but her privates took us to unexplored territory and we find ourselves reveling in the prospect of re-invigorating our discovery process

The coaches are great, and the classes are small enough so you feel you're getting attention yourself. We're having fun, and learning lots :-).

Gumby - it was great to meet you. Thanks for the support and for coming up and saying hello!

Some other DFers were there who are silent or busy, so I'll be careful - but it was good to see you all also!

Hey Reb:
Likewise. I've enjoyed watching you dance for sometime now and it was nice to get the chance to tell you so in person. You and Barbola looked great at the comp. To bad the turn out was so small this year. I think the monsoon last year may have kept some people away.

Back in studio tonight for my post comp debrief but the early word is that powers that be (i.e. Grace) were happy with me so I'm not stressing - yet :).

Agree that the dance camp was a very fun and great learning experience. That main ballroom was huge and beautifully done for the evening competition. Our favorite coach was Jonathan Roberts.

I think Stephan said it was 55 x 70

Had a great time at the camp. Lot's of great instruction (I did latin only) including Nadia Eftedal, Melissa Dexter, Yegor Novikov, and Jonathon Roberts. Classes were informative and fun!

Still think we need to have a DF "secret code", would have loved to talked to some of the DF'ers but didn't know who might be whom!

C'mon, the phenomenal pouring rain every year after the comp is one of my favorite mainstays of the event!!

I particularly liked last year when the power was out for the morning of the 30th and everyone intrepidly danced on!! (and I loved when Nadia tried to force Victor Fung to teach her Cha-Cha class ;-))
