How are your practices going?

Working on Mambo cucarachas. My body simply isn't used to moving this way. It's sort of funny. I'll get it right for a short time then Poof! It disappears.

Ha! Much more consistent this morning. It's not often I have something to work on where the results come so fast.

practicing consistently is my current goal. actually have been able to do in the past few days, so yay! got a little frustrated last night, so took a breath, made dinner, then went back. I did realize that with the studio changeover, there aren't as many - in fact, hardly any- group classes reinforcing my learning, so the lesson pace that i used to have may not work now. thoughts!

Had one of those practices yesterday where everything was amazing... empty studio, sun streaming in, music cranked, totally on balance, and feeling big, free, easy movement. Not sure if I want to get my tail in gear and get to the studio today, or if I want to bask in the happy memory of how awesome yesterday's practice felt...

Haven't felt motivated to practice in a while. Don't have anything on the calendar (not even practice weekends) with my partner currently, and don't have line of sight to that changing. It's been a tough past week or so, and I'm beginning to wonder if my life wouldn't be more fulfilling with the time and emotional resources I'm expending on this sport available for other things instead.

DO BOTH! ;)

This is why I love practicing on weekends.

Such as what???

Krav Maga??

Cycling??

Netflix??

Two good choices one notsomuch

Haha no to the first two, don't actually find the last one fulfilling. The good news is I heard back from her, apparently she and I were on the same page, she just hadn't gotten around to letting me know that for the past week . If nothing else, I'm definitely learning some things about our respective communication styles and coming up with new ideas for how to handle it in the future.

It's now moot, but it probably would have been:
- Yoga (already do some as cross-training, but it gets cut whenever I get too busy)
- Learning foreign languages (loved them in college, just haven't made the time now)
- Something that forced me to interact with people (even if my introvert side hated it at first:eek:)

Solo practice today was a wake up call. Choreo memory is still mostly there, but executing it at full speed was a disaster. And the fitness has definitely gone down as a result of taking the past couple weeks off. Definitely gonna need to get back in the habit of working out and practicing more intensely!

Had a surprisingly good practice with my Latin partner after a 2-week break.

Only got in one practice with smooth/standard partner with a couple rounds in preparation for Nationals this weekend...Felt pretty decent, if slightly winded. We also have a couple new walls of smooth waltz choreo that I'm somewhat nervous about, but we can get through it! Fingers crossed for this weekend...

New jive routine is a mess... The new choreography to me is all over the place. It is really flashy though.

Working on a showcase routine for a talent show my company. Considering the guy that won last year did a shoddy Micheal Jackson routine, this should be an easy win... Now just finding the time to put on the routine for that and practicing for Miami is the real challenge.

Ha. Some very young man did a Michael Jackson routine during the recent showcase. But hey, he was only ten years old. Audience cut him lots of slack. :) (And he was actually pretty good.)
