How can i practise my timing, sharpness and being quick in general in Cha Cha?

Sorry, I must be a bit dense. I'm not quite sure what I'm missing here. I thought we were discussing how the non-synchopated steps in cha were faster than those in rumba, therefore speed being faster - center normally kept higher than rumba. I am settling less when working at a higher speed.

But I don't want to get into an "I'm right, you're wrong" type discussion. Not my intent, just passing on information - people can take it or leave it.

Latin Gal, you've got a PM.

No hard feelings here, sorry if I made a wrong impression.

Thanks JoepiE! I appreciate it.

I know passing on information through an anonymous medium like a forum on the internet is tricky (unless you are a known commodity in the dance world).

And I think everybody should put information through their own filters - make sure it makes sense to them in regards to their own understanding and context of their coaching.

And I think I understand this is what we were working toward...so no worries and thank you very much for considering my feelings!

I'm not sure about this one...rumba is normally 24 measures per minute, cha-cha is 31 measures per minute. The non-synchopated steps are quicker in cha-cha and you must get over the leg faster. I need to keep my center a bit higher (than rumba) throughout cha-cha unless I am accenting a step.

well, YOUR rumba may be 24mpm, but mine is closer to 32. ;)

Yeah, think my chart says 30 for cha, and actually took both these showcase ones down to 29-29.5 range to cheat and give myself a little more time to settle. :)
