How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

It's all too easy to take for granted someone special in your life. I know I take DH for granted if I'm not careful. But now and again I'm reminded of the little things he does for me to make my life easier. How does your SO, or someone special, show their love? How do you?

What prompted this? DH is away on a business trip, and he called this evening. He pointed out that he put plenty of cans of DMD in the fridge for me so I'd have cold ones tomorrow morning. (I tend to forget.) *melt*

Another thing he does, which I love him for, is he opens all the stinky (or possibly stinky) plastic containers in the fridge and deals with the contents. Sounds stupid, but we'd have spend a small fortune on plastic containers if it was left up to me.

Hmmm...now it's making me wonder what I could do for him...

aw.....yea....its a great thread....there is a woman at the gym who alsways asks me how I am...I am so grateful for her...I wish I could be more like that...resolving to be...not love really but sort of

already mentioned what dh did in another thread...am determined to post daily in here

DH lets me sleep in after a long night of dancing or working, getting the kids off to school and such. He also doesn't let me stop working when I get discouraged or stressed because he says I'll miss it and he doesn't want to see me isolated and miserable the way I was before I worked. He also lets me dance. On my own. As much as I want. And go to congresses. And perform. Yeah.

Oh, and the lady at the Starbucks drivethru ahead of me, who anonymously paid for my coffee and made me cry it was so lovely.

How wonderful! It's a nice reminder just how kind and thoughtful people can be.

I don't have a DH or BF. Widowed many years ago and brought up 2 boys alone. They are now adults (sometimes) and I love the little things. Phoning to say 'hi', checking to see if I need anything done - that sort of stuff. And this may sound silly, but my pets, who show you their love everyday.

once locked my keys out of my car and a nice man bought me an easter lilly while I was waiting for the locksmith....very nice

There is someone who came into my life around September last year, a platonic friend. He was just someone who came at 'just the right time'. He has experienced a lot, including surviving an almost incurable form of cancer in his late 20s (if I recall correctly). He is now mid 40s. He has the most amazing positive outlook on life, at least when we are in each other's company and we have a great laugh together.

When I have a sneezing fit, due to hayfever, a lot of people move away (!), whereas he tends to put a hand on my shoulders, as if to say, "relax into it, don't tense up", which is kind of hard when you are onto your 5th sneeze in less than 10 seconds! But, I find that I actually come out of the sneezing fit less tired when that happens.

I saw him a couple of days ago and as we were parting company, I felt I just had to tell him "thank you" for coming into my life.

a stranger came up to me yesterday at the grocery store and said something beautiful for no reason... just when i needed to hear it... wearing boring clothes, my hair up in its most unappealing fashion, not a stitch of makeup, end of the day tiredness, repressing some unhappiness that needed to be heard... and he stopped me and said, "there's something about you... you have the most amazing energy". then he went on his way...

that was an expression of pure loving energy and believe me, wow, was it just what this soul needed.

very touching, meow. my kids excel in the little things, too... not big on presents & the like, but letting me know how much they love me on a regular basis just cuz they wanna be with me... that's so awesome

My DH tells me every day that he loves me, at least once!

DancinAnne and her DH have been a constant source of support and encouragement to me, especially these past few months.

i'm distracted by the fact that your starbucks has a drivethru...

The one nearest to my parents house was originally a Burger King, hence the drivethru. Perhaps that was the case with the former . . . ?
