How do you end your dances?

You've danced with someone and it was nice, but it's over and you're ready to move on.

What do you say at the end of a dance? If I enjoyed it, I'll say, "thank you, that was lovely", if not, I'll say "thank you for the dance". What does everyone else say?

Also, how do you handle someone who wants to dance again and again and again with you and won't let you go?

At the end, I just say 'Thank you very much', and sometimes I add: 'It was a pleasure dancing with you' or 'You're a super dancer' as the case may be:)

To those who just won't let go, I just say 'Thank you' when I want out of there... if they insist I either tell them that song is reserved for someone else, or that my feet hurt, or that I have to have a drink or use the restrooms.... it all depends on the guy!

Doing Lindy, like the dance itself I'm all very informal. Sometimes just 'thanks', sometimes only a smile (usually when the dance has been fast and the connection great... no need for words), and sometimes some comment that seems to fit the moment and the dance or maybe something we talked about while dancing. Sometimes we walk of together talking.

It all depends, no rules. :)

Oh yeah, if I want to end a dance I just say that I need a break. And this is 99% of the times the honest truth.

Same here for me dancing salsa, merengue, etc. A simple "Thanks!", or a smile works just fine!

I see my english failed me a bit here... I ment end dancing, like in between two dances. :D

I usually end with a 'thanks!' and smile. If the guy and I are good friends, we might end up doing more songs together, but I always ask if they need a break, so that I don't end up hogging them. There are usually girls sitting out songs  ........the gender-imblance factor really sucks....

I generally like it if a guy is clear on whether he'd like to continue dancing the next song or not. Afterall, there are only a few seconds available to find your next dance partner.......you don't want to waste that chance to grab someone else, if the guy you danced with takes a loooong time to make up his mind  !

Some Japanese guys here shake my hand. Nice, but formal. Some South American guys try & kiss me(cheek, it's OK). Salsahog might go for a full-frontal grope

I've been hugged a couple of times. But since Lindy can be a quite sweaty affair, I let the girls initiate that one. And I do love it, I take it as a huge compliment when the girl wants to hug me even though I'm practically dripping :D

guys sometimes kiss my hand... or we hug, if we know each other well... kissing is very rare... :)
cocodrilo, I'm not sure I'd like to be 'groped'... actually, I would really hate it! and I think we're giving too much attention to this guy, the salsahog... he also posted a topic on the forum from www.tosalsa.com and he was all the same! said someting about the fact that women shouldn't invite men to dance, since it challenges their masculinity... grrr... horrible...

Depending on how the dance went, I may end it with:
"Thank you" + smile,
"Thank you" + smile + a squeeze of a hand or pat on the back, depending on where my hands are at the end of the dance ,
"Thank you, I enjoyed that" + smile + squeeze/pat, or
"Thank you, that was great!" + big grin + hug or kiss on the cheek.

To beginners (who tend to keep apologising throughout the song), I may say something like "stop apologising! It wasn't bad at all", "you are getting better" and "keep practising" in addition to "thank you" + smile + hand squeeze.

Guys don't usually try to dance more than 2 songs in a row, I don't usually have to worry about guys who wouldn't let me go. When it did happen, I just said "no -- maybe later? Thanks" with a smile.

and do you enjoy kissing non-pretty girls?!

outside beauty is only skin deep squirrel.. if she gives me the feeling i look for.. she is beautiful to me no matter how where on the pretty scale she is :).. i look at the soul .. and i can see

quote: "To watch us dance, is to hear our hearts speak"

:) I know beauty is in the eye of the watcher... still, beauty is the first way one chooses one's mates :D

of course, salsa isn't about mating... if it were, i'd run from it with 100 miles per hour
