hello dancer again another topics. Pardon me, How many minutes or hours can u all pick up the dance steps when u all attend a dance lesson, or audition? for me i need 10-15 to pick up the steps isit too slow? how abt u guys ? Share it ? So we wont felt weird :)

seconds usually.. but, then again i've been dancing on ething or the other all my life (and salsa going on 6 years) so u kninda pick it up easier with time
but i have to like the dance to do that and click soulfully to it..

if we are talking salsa.. its the same answer.. unless its a choregraphy of some sort and has a combination of advanced moves in which case it takes minutes to memorize.. but just doing a new move .. then its done as i see it mostly..

You are a natural! Takes me a while as I have to figure out which limb is doing what when etc. But I usually don't bother even learning new moves, so maybe it is the lack of prcatice. I have discovered quite a few while dancing though. :)

Steps and figures I can usually have down after a couple of times, depending on the complexity of the figure.

Adding arms, now that's a whole different story.......

It takes me a long time. I can't pick up anything just by watching. I have to DO it over and over until I can feel it in my body. Then I can do it. Ten, twenty repetitions? And very slow practice, in 1/4 tempo or less. After a while, I can feel the movement, feel myself doing it just by visualizing it, then I can do it. But then, I'm such a slow poke, that's why I have to work so hard.

It has always been easy for me to just remember a new step. Unless the step involves some technique that I can't get it right (like, when I was first introduced to a double reverse spin), I am normally really fast with steps. Sometimes, I can learn a new step just by watching, but most of the time, I have to do it with the teacher.

I'm in Swing and it depends if we're doing triple step or single step. For single step I get most things right on the 1st-3rf try. triple step I just learned today so I'm not very good. So we worked for half an hour on a kind of pattern thing to just try and get us comfortable with the triple step.

But I like the faster songs so I kind of prefer the single step.

I'm doing East Coast BTW.
