How much is too much?

I started looking around for private lessons and packages recently and I don't ever remember pricing being this high - even if adjusted for inflation. So, as most of you already know, I'm quite uncomfortable talking about money but, really, how much is too much? How much are people paying in general?
 
Well, I'm probably one of the few lucky ones, because I am on a college team, and therefore I only pay $80/semester for group lessons, and $55/private lesson with my rhythm coach. A lot of people I know though, pay $85/ private lesson. I've done that a couple times when I took latin/standard lessons, but as a poor college student, I try to avoid that if possible. Pricing is starting to ridiculous though I think; I can barely afford things now much less if prices keep going up.
 
I think in NJ (and possibly all around the country) a 45-minute private lesson will run you between $75 and $85 on average at an independent studio, depending on the instructor. Of course, there are those that will completely be more expensive, as will a franchise studio.
 
Depends a lot on area too, as certain areas just cost more to run a business. :/ Also there's obviously an increase in price if you're working with a top pro.

But if you search, there are a bunch of threads on this subject. I believe latest one was in general Dance Discussion. Seems like my memory says it can range anywhere from $50-250 that people on here are paying. I'm paying three digits, but luckily not near $250. :)
 
I have paid btwn 50 and 95 for 50 minutes...and felt both were appropriate to what I was learning...120 for coaching...I rarely take group lessons anymore as I have little access to local studios
 
I think it's like buying anything else. Shop around.

Get pricing from and try a lesson or two with a few different studios/instructors in your area. If you feel like the price is competitive, the lessons are meeting your needs and you value them at that price, then it's not too much.
 
In my studio price is around $100 for private lessons, but we have packages in the studio, so you have group, private lessons and parties in the package.

I know that i pay my lessons with teachers and coaches from London around $200 per lesson.

And I am not sorry for that. ;)
 
$130 for one month of unlimited group lessons.

$220 for a package of four 50-minute private lessons, otherwise $65 per private lesson.

Another studio offers a 25 minute private for $40, I think.
 
Here private classes range from $65/$75 for a full hour and group classes from $10-$25 for one hour or an hour and a half. However, there are no packages available.
