How to help partner with arm styling ?

I have noticed that with a lot if not most of lead it is very hard to get the proper and nice looking arm styling.

I am just wondering if I can help my partner with this issue as his feet are very neat.

Do you have hints and tips for leads arm styling mainly for new vogue and latin styles ?

For latin, the lead's arm styling is about creating volume. The way a lead shapes his arms and the path his arms/hands take is different than the follow.

I'm assuming you've told your partner that he needs help with his arm styling. What I suggest is, even if you are always dancing in front of a mirror, sometimes it's hard to look at yourself and see what you're doing while dancing. Video tape one of your practices and focus on arm styling. Arm styling is something that can look very awkward at times if it's not done right. Both of you should take a moment, stand in front of the mirror and do your arm styling and look for what looks good and what doesn't. Even if you feel like you don't need to do this, remember there's always something to improve and practice makes perfect.

Your partner needs time with a good teacher to go over this, too. If he's anything like me, he might not do arm styling because there are other core things that need correcting - when I do things on the more correct side of the line, it's impossible to do them without using my arms; when I do them on the less correct side of the line, it's completely awkward to force my arms into activity.

Arms don't come just from using your arms. They come from your sides and back... If you use your back correctly, the arms will just naturally follow. You'll still, of course, need to practice in front of the mirror for precise styling. But I would caution against creating arms that just look good, because you might be doing it artificially. Get a coach involved. :)
