I Need a Dress.....

Hello folks,
I have been lurking here for the longest time checking out peoples dance music choices, but the time has come that I need some assistance. I am going to be in this dance performance at our local Community College (Mira Costa, WOOO), and the instructor bought these skirts as part of the costume, but the one for me is not quite right. It is, how should I say, not long enough. I tried it on and half of my butt was hanging out of the bottom.

So here is the skirt, and it has to be this color,

which is teal. My question to you is does anyone have any idea about where to find this with more length? Or maybe you have an idea about how I can modify it. I have just over a week to get one (got to have it by next Wednesday). So what do ya say, any and ALL ideas are helpful.....

It's too bad that the company doesn't sell their longer version of the skirt in the teal color. That would probably solve your problem.

Can you get to a fabric store that sells stretch fabrics? If you can find a matching fabric you can sew in a third underlayer that is long enough to cover the essential parts. Stretch fabrics tend to be made in wide widths 58-60" wide, so you probably wouldn't need to buy more than 2 yards.

Hey bjp22tango,
I thank you for the quick reply. I thought about buying some more fabric and adding a panel between the waistband and the hankie parts, but I think your first idea may be the better one. The skirt is supposed to hang on your hips, but I'm NOT 12 anymore. I have actual hips!!! Nothing hangs there, ha ha ha!
