I need some serious help

Just like most people here, I also need help. I mean i need a thorough guide to grinding and just how u dance to fast music, i think its called freestyle? But I need everything from where your hands are and how to do the moves, if there are any websites with actual pictures of people or clips of dancing or what not please tell me. Also what kind of music would u rather grind to instead of freestyle or vice versa. Also i read about different grind positions, so how do u know which one to use, do u talk to your partner or something, cuz that sounds kinda strange to discuss it prior dancing because dancing seems like a spontaneous type of thing.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated,
Jason

oh ya, i just need a simple yet nice dance to do, one that's just by yourself. I don't really want to take classes cuz id be ambarrased since i am only in high school and i dont think there'd be many classes in my area

no i meant...

i meant a dance that you do in place not something like that as if your trying to put on a show, just some simple dance that you do standing in place on the dance floor with a ton of people, the kind of dance that you dance at a high school dance or so
thanks

Alright check it out.

First do you have limewire or kazaa? If not watch music videos. Beware some are exaggarated, but something like "turn me on" by Kevin Lyttle, you can even go to his website and download the video. That is simple yet sensual grinding. See if that helps

As for standing in place, try 'popping the knees', as in popping one knee out and then in, in a circular motion, and then as one knee comes back in place pop the other knee out as if a pendulum hit your other knee and transfered the momentum, follow that up with a body roll, done in slow motion, stopped in the middle, and then executed again in the opposite direction and pause ~ play ~ pause ~ play kinda action. To do a body roll bend your knees a bit, and start by pushing your hip out. Then you should fluidly be able to make it flow through your body. Another individual dance is the puppet dance. hang your head a bit, bend your knees slightly inwards, and hang your arms in the air with the wrists and hands facing down as if you were a puppet. Then drag your legs and (not too much cuz it'll easily look overdone) make quick kinda sloppy movements.

Uhh there's also the Crip walk & the Harlem Shake, I dunno if anyone does those anymore. But the Crip walk consists of simultaneous bending and straightining of both legs. bend both legs while they are together, then very------------> quickly kinda bounce up in the air and straighten then knees in one direction. I.E. right leg out diagonally infront of you with the left leg out diagonally behind you, then bend your knees kind of bringing them back together and then pop em out again.

:D

Ok - I'll weigh in here too -

First and foremost - the music determines the dance!

When you hear a piece of music, what does it make you think of? Close your eyes while listening to the music you'd like to dance to and focus on the feeling. Is it bouncy? :bouncy: Is it smooth? 8) is it laid back? :) Is the music slow? Is it fast?

When you discover what the music feel liks to you, then move with that feeling. Freestyle is called that for a reason! It's whatever yo feel like doing to the music! ;)

Whatever you do, do NOT watch any Molly Ringwald movies and attempt any dancing as it is depicted therein. ;) The 1980s bad dancing police will be all over you for it, I promise. ;)

I do second the advice to learn the Electric Slide. that dance isn't so much about showing off, as it is about being part of a group, yet an individual at the same time. Line dances can be a good starting place if you are uncomfortable "doing you own thang" at first. It took me forever to get comfortable line dancing because I was so self conscious, but now I LOVE it. BTW - Line Dancing isn't just "country", either, ;)

:!: that's very true, there's the 'hustle' which most people think of before they think of the partner dancing hustle, and then theres the cha-cha-cha slide, which is pretty easy.

Yeah, neither do I  All I know for sure is the "everybody clap yo hands!"
