I have speech impediment, a lisp and mental and psychological problems and now i am going to nightclub and have a chance to impress girls and stuff without talking or speaking coz i odnt like talking i find it gay. And dont tell me to find some other way coz like i told you im still in the process of getting over psychological problems from childhood, until i get to grips with talking i want to try and dance.

I have never ever ever danced before not even once. im 18.

the club plays r n b and hiphop music by the way.

anyways i have some questions ill start from bottom up:
how do your toes move? do your balls of feet ever move off the ground much?
what about your knees? how often do they move or bend and how do you know in which direction they move in time with the music? i read "move in time with music", but in which direction and when?
also your hips same questinos and also all the other parts.
what bodyparts should move more or less than other bodyparts?

im sorry but i am absolutely clueless about dancing. there are no dancing lessons near me and i tried practicing on my own with music but it felt totally unnatural, and dont say its because i am "not confident or relaxed", because in reality it feels like a baby trying to walk, no matter how confident he is in his ability he will continue to fall down. i videotaped myself and watched myself and it looked terrible.

So that you don't have false expectations, know that the club scene is not always forgiving. Do give it a try, but don't have false expectations.

Sometimes the balls of your feet leave the ground, but think of it more as a walking or stepping. Forwards, Back, and especially side-to-side.

Most people don't do too much with their feet when club dancing.

what about your knees?
Hm. It is probably pretty safe to not do too much with you knees -- possible "bop" a little.

It doesn't matter that much *where* you move, what matters is *when* you move. Think that you want to move on the beat, rather than before or after it. It really isn't easy to explain over the internet :)

I tend to think that eveything should move together on the beat -- doesn't matter what direction.

At the beginning, don't move too large and think that the source of the movement is the middle of your torso, your lower back, etc., and that the rest of your body responds to this movement.

Everyone looks terrible at the beginning. That's how it is.

As far as learning to dance -- find a friend who can move ok, and ask him/her. Or even find an acquaintance. It is really very difficult to learn over the internet (probably impossible).

Best,
David

welcome...its hard to give advice on how to dance in such a short period of time...but in general...dont look down smile....keep your knees soft and keep your weight over your feet...add some sways to your hips and some steppping side to side...dancing at any level is sold through your attitude;)...I hopew that helps and again , welcome

my problem is no matter how much i "practice", i am "practicing" doing it badly. so i could be doing it for 20 hours and ill still look terrible.

thats how its seems when all of us practice...you cant see progress but it's there...just trust that...its like watching a tree grow you cant see it but it's happening...like breathing...you cant see the breath but its there.....practice...and look up and smile and keep your knees soft and your shoulders tall
