Hey guys :D

. . . alright I have a question that HOPFULLY someone can answer or give me some advice on!
Alright. . . my problem is when I was younger I danced for a few years (about 4) and it was jazz, and for some STUPID reason I quitt!
Now im 17 and I think about it everyday! wishing I had never quit and wondering what my life would be like if I still danced :(
AHHHHHHHHHHH It makes me SOOOO sad to see all these girls at my school having been in dance all there lives and that is their passion! and thats all they do! So im VERRY serious about taking it up again, hopfully jazz and I would LOVE more than ever to take ballet or pointe. but I dunno if im gonan be able to?
Im 17, 5'7 and about 127pounds.
so If anoyone can give me some advice or tips hwo to get back into dance I would appreciate it SOOOO much!!!!
thanks

Why not look for a class and just start going to it? Try a lower-level one until you get back into the swing of things. You seem to be tall and thin, and at your age you'll get back into "dance shape" quickly. If you love it -- go for it! Good luck!

Whatever you do - get back to it, or you'll be sad and regret it. I can't imagine ever not having horses, so I can empathize to a degree, maybe.

I did a lot of dancing when I was younger, but had to give it up because I couldn't afford the classes when I started working. Took me 16 years to wake up to myself and get into it again.

Do not be like me and wait that amount of time. Sure I see professional dancers on the comp circuit and on stage and wonder where I would be if I had kept it going. But you can't live your life wondering "what if". All you can do it get out there and do it now.

First step - make a phone call and book into a class
Second step - show up and do the class
Third step - realising that this is what you love to do and never give it up again!!

You'd be tall for a professional female ballet dancer, but that doesn't mean you can't learn the dance.

From what you say you miss it as part of your life, as something you can take joy from. Take joy where you can, eh? Start dancing again -- you are most definitely not too old for a career in dance, and no-one is too old to love doing it.

It's never ever too late, ash. You're 17, just like me! I started last year (ballroom) and yes, sometimes I see this amazing little girl who's just 11 or 12 years old, and she's going for Silver! (for those ballroom people who know what it is) I just look at her and sigh, if I was encouraged, if I had been dancing from early years, if I...
But ifs do nothing to help me. Only my gut strength and my persistance can do anything to make me improve. That goes for you as well. The fact that you miss dancing so much means you're really into it and that you have the drive to make yourself a great dancer. So go for it! Other DFers have said everything already, so I'll just say that it's never too late. Grab hat phone and book that class. :D
Good luck, and keep us posted! We're always here to help.

Welcome to the Forum Family, Ashley!

If you're looking for inspiration, answers to all your dance questions, and a great place to just relax and enjoy the spirit of fellow dancers...you've come to the right place.

If you want to dance, then dance. The sooner you start, the sooner your fear of regret will hit the ground running away. To quote dancing_feet:

Welcome to the Forum Family, nic_dance!

I think you'll find a wide variety of dancers on the website...from ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop to ballroom, Latin, swing, country western (or line) and even some belly dance and Irish. You'll certainly feel at home on the Forums!
