I saw it this morning. Didn't care for it, to be honest. The dance scenes, I liked, what little I could see of them. But two things about the movie bothered me. No, three.
For one thing, it seemed more of a showcase for Outkast's music than anything else to me. Gotta give Outkast props for a constantly innovative approach to their music. But still, if I had to describe the movie, I'd call it first, a gangster movie. Second, a music-movie (no, not a musical. Too much dialogue for that.) Only a distant nth is it a dance movie, IMHO.
Second thing, whoever filmed the movie (can't remember who) didn't film the dance scenes so you could really
see the dancing -- lots of annoying (to me) slow motion during aerials and the like. Just show me the
footwork, gosh darnit!! :lol:
And third, just a little pet peeve of mine -- so, so many anachronisms. Who the heck did the wardrobe for this film? The clothes were retro-look modern clothing. Not the real thing. Didn't look real to me, at all. Grr. :headwall:
And who was it, earlier in the thread? The dancing was, from my view, at least equal parts hip hop and swing. Not swing. I liked it. But I could easily see some swing purists hating it. (But then that could be my prejudice.

)
Have I trashed it enough? lol. Good. Go see it, so you can shoot me down. :lol:
