IDSF World Latin

The IDSF World Latin took place today in Lithuania. Eugene and Maria came in 4th, Val and Val made the semis, and Maurizio/Melinda took the championship title. Not at all unexpected but I still don't get why Eugene and Maria's ranking has slipped 3 places this year. They were so close to becoming the next Amateur Latin champions after the Stokkebroes moved on the Pro. Darn! My favorite couple, Andre Zaitsev and Anna were 7th!!! Maurizio and Melinda were the winners although I fail to see the appeal here. They used to be very interesting to watch but recently, I feel that their dancing has taken a different direction. Melinda needs to do something about her hair, which was cut very short recently. It doesn't suit her. I feel like the Amateur field is lacking some superstars since Franco, Riccardo and Klaus turned Pro. I'm putting my money on Zaitsev..........

I'm a big fan of Nino Langella myself! (aside from Val and Valeriya of course) For some reason his dancing reminds me of Slavik.

Yeah, except for Stefano di Filippo and Anna Melnikova. My money (and my eyes) are on them. Stefano is HUGELY charismatic, and Anna is a good match.
I also like Alex Silde, but don't expect them to get to the top. Stefano and Anna will, I think. Didn't Maurizio and Melinda also announce they're turning pro as of next year? I recall reading that somewhere recently.

Edit - This is, by the way, an excellent result for Val and Valerya. Congrats.

Bah Val and Val are doing the pro show at our december regional back home and I'm going to miss it. :( Thanks for the reminder. :P All the pros (at least the female pros ;) ) are ecstatic about it.

don't you wish humans came like that? Then if you didn't feel like washing it you could just roll it up and go short and spiky!

Did anyone notice how close it was between Stefano and Krajcer?

Stefano had 4 3rd places and 1st in jive, Matej had 3 2nd places and was 4th in both cha cha and jive.

I'm happy for Stephano getting 2nd, I like his dancing a lot.

And and big Hell Yeah!!! for Val, 9th is not bad at all. Nino has been beating him lately and I am very glad to see that Val took this one.

The results were close between some couples - Stefano and Matej; Zaitsev and the Lithuania couple. Zaitsev and his partner are just phenomenal. They missed the final by one mark and I have a feeling that's because the Lithuanian couple had to be in the finals as the championship was held in their home country (not to take any credit away from them as they are quite good). I am excited to see where Andrei Zaitsev and Anna will place in Blackpool - I've heard that people are really impressed with this young Russian couple.
