17. Matej Krajcer & Pela Kralj

Is that the same Matej Krajcer that was World Amateur Latin Champion ?

Great result for Marat and Alina, as they are usually 5th in that group. As a big fan of theirs, I am happy;)

So are such couples not permitted to dance at future Nationals, or just not permitted to rep the US at Worlds?

My understanding is the latter, just not allowed to represent the US at Worlds.

My CONCERN is that I wonder if for some elite dancers, this creates incentives to do one or more of the following:

A) represent the country/one of the countries for which the partnership does have passports (which one could do while continuing to live in the U.S.),
B) skip USA Dance Nationals,
C) turn pro.

Don't get me wrong: I think we have plenty of excellent representatives who do meet the passport qualifications. I'm not worried in that sense. As someone who very much enjoys watching multiple rounds of championship events, though, I would hate to lose even a fraction of our elite dancers.

A similar situation transpired over on the latin side.

It will be interesting to see whether this affects registration for the upcoming NQEs and Nationals.

Considering Vladislav and Milena made one cut over current US runners-up at Worlds (32nd vs. 52nd), I'd say we had pretty darn good representation there even with the new rules in effect:) Great showing by them!

Absolutely agreed! Kudos!

I think you are confusing "great" representation with "true" representation. It is not great that the best American couple was 32nd in the world. That the National runners-up were outperformed by a "lower ranked couple" just shows that it doesn't really matter who goes because all Americans are mediocre by world standard.

Why are American couples mediocre? Why are "organic" American couples worse than mediocre? Maybe I should start a thread on it.
