The origin of diputs began in 1995.
OK, I know what you are thinking, but it is not that long of a story, so bear with me.
I am in Amsterdam participating in an acting workshop through my college. I am in a self scripting class, which is basically a class where you have to create a performance piece. The first part of the piece was creating a name for the character. I had no interest in completing the project and told the teacher that I thought it was stupid. The teacher told me that I had to come up with a name, and would not let me get away without completing the task. So I told her I wanted my name to be "stupid." Of course, being a lot wiser than I am, she would not accept this. So in all the defiance I could muster, I said, "Well then fine, spell it backwards." And this was the moment diputs was born.
There are a lot more details about who diputs was and who diputs became, but I will not bore you with the details.

One of the other things that I really discovered over that summer was clowning. So I wanted to create a costume to go along with my clown character "diputs"
So off I went to the thrift stores. I mean where else would I have found those pants.
The red plaid pants are actually the inner pants. I found some mailman pants that are huge, that I would wear over them. The red plaid pants are like my insides, while the mailman pants are what I use to hide myself.
I could go on about diputs and the pants for a while, but I will leave it here unless there are questions.

In 1999 I got involved in long distance cycling charity rides. I was on the motorcycle safety crew. One of the things on these rides are the costuming. I thought this would be a great opportunity to wear these pants again.
By 2001, when this picture was taken, I was recognised (sp?)by these pants. When I started cycling the events, I would still be remembered for the pants. The pants are wool, so I did not wear them while cycling.

yeah okay, but like I said....I keep a "shortlist" of contenders incase DH decides to get a trophy wife or drops dead of stress....not funny, I know, kinda morose today
