If you could change one thing about lessons....

What would it be?

Impractical on the teaching front... but I'd love to see a class taught in two halves... split the class in two, and teach two different routines to each half... then swap partners and actually teach the finer points of leading / following it with a 'blind' partner.

What kinda things would u guys like to see more/less of in classes?...

(and no-one's allowed to say 'shines' )

More fun, less tension :)

But that would be difficult for people, wouldn't it?!

Let's say more focus on correct technique and timing and less on "Let's learn this complicated pattern, you won't be able to do it (I barely do it myself) but gosh that will make me look knowledgeable and keep you happy"!

I will probably quote that one sometime, Squirrel.

I don't do salsa, but this seems pretty universal in the dance world! I wonder why. Luckily, I have found teachers who teach differently so I am not complaining about my own training. If all classes were like my first dozens of dance classes... then I would probably not still be dancing.

Also teachers have to gauge the overall level of the class so it could be the teacher is basing the way he teaches on a few that learn quickly and well and the others don't speak up? I've seen this happen a few times.

Well, from what I see... often the advanced classes are just moves from the intermediate ones with more spins and turns for both leader and follower.

I had fun in one class where they taught a simple routine, but then added "extras" along the way, e.g. leading a double instead of a single, or with an extra turn for the guys... Unfortunately it seemed to be a one off since I've not experienced quite the same since... Anyone had any classes like this anywhere?
