Intro Post and Question About Facial Hair in Close Embrace

I have rather decently danced with a guy having a quite long, groomed bear. I did not pay much attention to this before but this time it really bothered me, his beard was basically like a heater - maybe because he was about the same hight as me and the air did not really circulate between us (or between me and his beard).

Hi! Also first time poster. This questions speaks to me. I mostly dance as a follower, and I have never notice a leader's facial hair, until that one time I danced with a leader with a very short, very sharp stubble on the cheek. I could feel it stabbing my face throughout the tanda, but it was a good experience despite that. So I believe if it's not so short and stiff that it's stabbing, then it's probably fine. Long-haired followers have a hair problem as well, as others have mentioned. I have long hair, and they do get on leader's face sometimes.

I find it distracting(slight discomfort) when the follower's face touches mine, so that's why I like to keep a short stubble. If she insists our faces are touching at least we're both distracted by something :)

I find followers often apply different standards of measurement. When greeting women at a milonga, I usually warn them that I have a stubble. Then they shy away from kissing. But if I ask to dance and say "I'm not shaved", then "whatever" is the answer.

There is one experienced leader who's also a host at a studio in our community who has long hair. He's also a good dancer and my SO likes dancing with him. On one occasion when he asked her to dance, she requested he put it back in a pony-tail (and he did so). In fact, ever since, it seems he always comes to any studios with his hair neatly pulled into a pony-tail.
