Is dancing related to which hand we use?

I am just curious that dancing is related to which side of hands we use? I am right-handed and I have more difficulties moving toward right direction for example doing spins and turns. What do you guys think?

I am right handed and I actually spin better naturally to the right. However, now that I do latin there is one turn I do better to the left - the three step turn, which I do more often to the left in latin. Just a matter of what you practice I think....

I don't know that it's hand related, but I definitely think most directional things like that will be better one way than other. Or like with cuban motion, one side is naturally going to be more flexible/"cuban" than other. Think i've noticed I can pull left hip Back further, but coming forward for front half it's other way around.

There is also such a thing as footedness, right? In gymnastics and ice skating I was always told that I was left footed (e.g. much easier for me to cartwheel to the left, or do left-foot crossovers) even though I am right handed.

(In soccer I was equally good with both feet...ugh confusing)

Oh, I did not know that. Yes, it makes sense. Thank you.

Hmmmm....... Definitely(?), I am right footed, but still for me it is easier going to the LEFT. I am asking because if these kind of things are already proven scientifically, so I can practice my weaker side more if possible.

I think in general, it really just depends on what side you work with more often-- ie, the patterns you do and if you are a leader or follower.

However, certain things like balance and flexibility can be related to the alignment of your spine, which affects the weight distribution your body. That's when visits to the chiropractor become very helpful. If I don't get regular adjustments, my right hip ends up sitting higher than my left, which makes for all kinds of fun stuff ;)

I'm right handed and I find the reverse turn is a tad more difficult than the natural turn. Probably b/c lady is on my right side. Like the others who are right handed, my right spin is easier than left.

i think i'm pretty equally incompetent, as fasc put it, heh.

i'm a left-right hodge-podge: right-handed, left-footed, and a southpaw, and practiced ambidexterous writing a lot when i was younger.

I am equally imcompetant on all sides or I switch back and forth

LOL!!!

I also turn better to the left... I am left handed. My standard coach, upon noticing that I wrote with my left hand was like "I didn't know that!!! Well, I'll definitely keep that in mind at our next lesson..." So maybe it does matter....

I doubt it should make a difference which direction you spin, since your partner is helping you determine whether it's left or right.

Practice both sides, so your comfortable with either.

But it could have to do with which directions we are more comfortable with.... or what sides of our bodies are better coordinated/stronger....

It's perhaps off-topic, but I have sometimes pondered what a novelty it would be to dance standard opposite-sided: flip the roles of L and R hands, dance offset R from partner, travel opposite the normal line of dance.
