Hi

Just wondering what the dance scene is like in Auckland or Wellington (or in other cities). I'm from Melbourne Australia and currently do Slasa there at lower intermediate level.

Over here, there's a lot of venues for lessons but not that many for social dancing. So the social dancers tend to be quite experienced and there seems to be a high turnover with beginners. This makes it harder to learn with people 'your own level'.

It would be great to hear what goes on in other cities, especially Auckland or Wellington which I might be moving to.

Go to Salsa Forums.. there are a couple of people from there .

You might also want to consider checking with this santi5 guy on youtube, since it seems he has a number of salsa videos from Auckland, youtube com/watch?v=HPxEC48j3d8.

And yes, I agree, you might also find more responses if you post to salsaforums com

Friday - Mexican Café mexicancafe. co.nz / entertainment.cfm
Sunday - Viva Latino vivalatino. co.nz / where_to_dance.html

You might also try the Moon Bar on Anzac Ave., Brooklyn Bar on Queen Street, Club Havana or Deluxe Bar on Karangahape Road. (Not sure about those places)
