Judges: Would you frown upon a Lady dancing Standard with her hair down?

Low ponytails are unlikely to injure a partner as they're diffuse and are likely to hit his chest rather than face, now braids... braids of any height can be dangerous. Like a mace.

For both partners... and in any style.

(Braided ponytail + tango = self-inflicted cheekbone bruise)

I was in a group class for tango through my university and the Pro teaching it encouraged us girls to focus on our head snaps by having us use our ponytails has weapons against our partners. Clearly it was one of the best classes ever :P

Just talking about this reminds me of this woman I used to dance with that danced with dreadlocks. I remember I always used to wonder why she never got asked to dance at socials... Then I heard, not saw, her hair hit some guy in the face. Probably felt like a flog!

One of my coach's pro/am ladies recently got very thick braided extensions added to her hair, and he's made it known he wants her to have that look for comps. I'm curious to see how much, if at all, they end up becoming a weapon when she competes. They do look absolutely awesome, though.

the other thing to consider with loose hair is how much the lady sweats...as much as I love to dance with my hair down and think it is pretty, in very short order it becomes quite wet and I really don't want to inflict the whirling wet mop on others
