ladies - all other things being equal, which do you prefer in your tango partner, an athletic body with firm, toned muscles or a softer, less toned feel?

And... Men - all other things being equal, which do you prefer in your tango partner, an athletic body with firm, toned muscles or a softer, less toned feel?

I prefer soft.

maybe it's been a slow news week but a recent report on my local news channel mentioned a report that some women have a preference for men with a "dad-bod". So i'm curious about how that plays out in the tango community. I've heard men with what the Argentines call "una panza" (maybe a large potbelly in English) say that women liked dancing with them because of their "tango pillow". I thought it was self promotion until a woman told me that men with a belly were easy to follow, especially for beginners.

What exactly is the point of this thread?

To get answers to the question: ladies - all other things being equal, which do you prefer in your tango partner, an athletic body with firm, toned muscles or a softer, less toned feel?

I understand that all other things are almost never equal & a good tango dancer is generally the preferred partner.

So if you have a preference say so, if not say so.

Given that I'm not going to have sex with them in all likelihood, I don't care what kind of body they have as long as I can connect with them. It's the connection that's important. My preference is to dance with partner who have skills, musicality, and passion.

Just to be clear, my request for what MEN want was SARCASM.

Thanks for the clarification. Now - all other things being equal; skills, musicality, passion, etc. which do you prefer in your tango partner, an athletic body with firm, toned muscles or a softer, less toned feel?

Do you find that a softer body type makes it easier (or more likely) for you to have a good connection with them?

No. Maybe if I didn't know how to dance properly and was trying to force the connection, but since that's not the case, their body type has no real bearing. At least not with anyone I've danced with. Height makes more of a difference, but I can find a connection with anyone who will give me something to connect to. It's just going to be different depending on how well their body fits mine.
