Hi guys,

If you've watched a tonne of videos over the last decade with famous couples dancing traditional Argentine Tango, who was the most memorable Follower for you and why?

Sometimes I watch very famous people and I kind of understand with my brain that the follower's technique and following skill are perfect, yet she is soooo boring to watch.

What do you reckon a follower should have to be interesting when it comes to performing a dance to the audience or camera?

Thank you.

You raise interesting questions. I have seen and analyzed hundreds of videos and downloaded many. I usually lose interest in a show couple when they change partners. For example, my hard drive contains

9 performances by Noelia and Pablo R.
4 performances by Noelia and Carlos E.
0 performances by Noelia and Facundo d.C.

So it seems I react to the emergent properties of the couple, but not to the individual contribution of the individual dancer.

Thank you so much. I think we are getting back to a very old concept "it takes two to tango". Perhaps it's musicality of the Leader as well as the chemistry of the couple overall that makes each of the dancers to stand out individually as well as a couple. Somehow I didn't think about it.

Alejandra Mantinan

Well, she dances well with Aoniken Quiroga:oops: She also gives very good explanations.

Memorable?
Stefania Colina - because she once showed Juan Martin Carrara how he should really be leading a step during a lesson! And she was correct!

Cristina Sosa - because she was really helpful, explanatory and gave us her time during a lesson on an interesting step.

And I enjoy watching them dance with their partners as well.

I wouldn't go with Dorothy Parker on Brevity is the soul of ... with respect to their dance performances. I'm more interested in their musical Interpretation as dancers.
