Latin shoe question

Hi there-
I'm new to your forum but it looks like you all are pretty knowledgeable and could give me some advice. I'm sure you're sick of shoe questions but to same some time and money I thought I'd ask anyway.

I was looking on the DanceSport UK shoe shop page and there are a pair of Dance Naturals simple veneres that are on sale. My only problem is that I typically take a wide width, (I am currently wearing Ray Rose Monsoons in 3.5 wide. My street shoe size is 7.5). I was wondering if it might be possible to adjust the vamp strap on the DN venere to fit my forefoot. If anyone has any experience with DN and can advise me as to whether this is a good idea and how the sizing typically runs I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Welcome to DF Yippy4Skippy. I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you on the Dance Naturals, it's a rather specific question and I hope there is somebody out there that might be able to help.

In the meantime, good to have you in the forums!

wow those are expensive shoes. My partner tried to have the vamp straps adjusted by a shoe person. They basically detached part of the sole, detached the straps, and pulled them out slightly to create more room around the ball of the foot. So it's possible, but it would probably take several tries to get the fit right. Unfortunately for my partner, there was a metric conversion error... asking for a couple millimeters of adjustment is definitely not the same as asking for a couple of centimeters, yikes! Anybody want some size 34 DN shoes with a ball of foot area that's about a size 44? j/k

I've not got wide feet, but the 'knuckles' of my toes are rather wide - and I've found Dance Naturals to not be helpful in this area at all.

That said, they're still fantastic shoes and may be worth the chance for the right price - after all, you could always sell them on as near-new if it doesn't work out ...

Y4S,

I have wide balls of feet also, and only very specific models of DN work. The open toe / strappy front nature of the Venere will probably work, though I strongly suggest trying the shoe on before buying - it is a very pricy investment even if it works...

For me, International Dance Shoes are just too narrow. Supadance works well, though even in that the strappy front versions are the best. Even Ray Rose is a bit restrictive and scrunches my toes up, though that one is pretty good. The older Freed models worked, and some of Paoul's models are good too but they are a bit harder to come by.

Also, when considering resales, it is very rare that you will be able to get close to what you bought the shoes for... I was selling a pair of DNs, got less than half price for a brand new pair (and my feet are of a fairly common size).

Has anyone tried Dancefeel's Cassandra? It is extremely flexible and the buckle at the toe allows for minor adjustments. It is a beautiful shoe! The arch is high and feels amazing. The balance is great too. My only complaint is that the side buckle is a bit small and is hard to thread the strap. I would love a quick release on this shoe...

Thanks for all your help! I haven't decided if it's worth the risk of them not working to spend the money even if it is a good sale. I found out that Back Bay can special order the Ray Rose cyclone in wide and I've heard they're a bit wider than the Monsoons I've been wearing because the straps don't cross as sharply. Anyway, thanks again!

Y4S,
I would recommend calling the Dance Natural US Distributor and ask them. The info is: Dance America, 954-227-1760. Or you can email them at: admin@dance-america.com

Hope this helps.
Yes from what dnace naturals claims, they can customize everything on theor shoes from the shank to the heel to the color so I dont see why they wouldnt be able to do that seeing as how many of those shoes are handmade in italy.

Looking for some help from any Londoners out there. I have a friend who is going to be there for the next week and I wanted to see if I could get a pair of International dance shoes delivered to his hotel. Does anyone know where they sell them over there? I've done a cursory search, but only found dancesportinfo and they can't get them for a week or two. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, MQ
