I have been posting the live streams as I see them. Most are "per event" I have not seen a daily stream for US events. But I love watching friends dance, so yes I jump in and out depending on when they are on the floor. (and the demands of my job/life) I also like watching the pro/am events because if I am dancing I am not seeing what others in my age/level are doing. This is the best way to see what others are doing.
Generally you can find the pro's on YouTube, but that is usually final only so if you know a pro that may not make finals streaming is an option.
They don't hire the vendor, the vendor wants to attend events so they can sell their services and they pay the comp. If you are selling ballroom shoes it is easier at a competition than trying to get someone to purchase online. So you go to where the customers are located.
I don't know about video vendors, and it depends on the event. For Ohio I understand that vendors apply for a space (like any of the big events) and previous vendors get preference. For other comps, vendors fill out a form, pay the fee to attend and then pay a portion of sales to the comp owner. (it covers security and rental space) Yes, I have done this, but I am not a videographer so I am not sure if they have a different deal, but dresses, shoes, accessories etc all do the same. If you look at the vendor page on most comps there is contact information if you wish to be a vendor at the event. Usually the more the better, but the really big events run out of space.
$100 is for 5 days from the start of the day (7 or 8am) to the end of the day(midnight/1am), so not exactly 4-8 hours.

Most events I have streamed offered daily or session options. Like USDC below. Other comps had a price for the entire comp that was low and included everything. Empire cost 35 total. Occasionally, comps streamed for free.

One last thing I will say about streaming: it's good advertisement for a comp. I know I have gained interest in at least two comps because I liked what I saw and experienced via streaming.
Here's the funny thing. My guess is if you asked one of the many who have been streaming if they would record the 4 heats you want to see they might have done that for you. But I guess arguing that the things should work the way you want them is more fun.
Yes! I have enjoyed chatting with other dancers while watching the comp. I also enjoyed watching my friends compete.

USDC didn't stream Pro/Am.
Most events don't stream Pro/Am.
Ohio is doing so well with this live stream!

ChaCha1, you are the one who never, not even by accident, seem to agree with me on anything. I have already dropped all that discussion yesterday afternoon, wishing everyone happy viewings, before your evening posts. And I often respond positively to your comments, you never do! So don't give me the "it's more fun to argue line." While I am most certainly guilty of not walking away from this argument, so are you.
A 100 dollars for streaming is factually higher than any other steaming fee I have seen so far. Yes, I commented on that. No, I don't like it. That doesn't mean I have a problem with you not minding the fee, but you tried to convince me that the fee wasn't higher than usual, or that comps don't usually offer daily fees, which is just not true.
Let's just agree that you have the right to feel fine with h the fee, and have the right to complain about it. And let's not throw all sort of other issues into that matter like enjoying watching friends to compete because that's not relevant to the argument, and naturally I enjoy watching friends dance, too. I have driven multiple times hours to support someone.
So, enjoy Latin today, if you are watching Latin.

I noticed in the heat list that several Pro and Amateur couples are missing from this year from the Latin lineup, like Ina and Troels. I can't remember if they did Ohio last year or not.
Here's one: I agree, I don't see the world the way you do. I am offering another perspective. Sometimes when we are open minded another perspective is helpful. I have learned from other perspectives on this forum.
This was the discussion: You were complaining about the cost and everyone else was saying why they felt it was worth it. None of those have changed and I did say in my very first post, You do You, if it isn't worth it don't buy it. I don't purchase lots of common ballroom items because they are not worth it to me.

Can we all move on, please? I think the points have been made. OSBs streaming is priced differently than some others, and has different coverage than some others, and some find it a good value, and some don't.
Lots of stuff in ballroom is expensive, some stuff is more overpriced than others, I think we can probably all agree on that in general. Maybe we need a separate thread for anyone who wants to complain about specific things in ballroom that they find particularly overpriced (not just streaming, but in general). I'm guessing it could turn into a long thread.
And I'll add a general reminder in hopes that it is helpful. If someone's posts are annoying, for whatever reason, we have an ignore button. You can turn ignore on and off for any poster that you want, at any time for any reason. It can be helpful if someone is getting on your nerves, even just for a day or two. We all have different triggers, and we all have different things we want to vent about, etc. When these clash with others on the forum, and you still want to read the forums, it can be helpful to hit that ignore button on the people causing you stress.
Obviously I'm not a moderator, so everyone is free to ignore this post (or me in general). Just hoping this thread can get back to talking about streaming instead of continuing to argue about pricing that none of us control, or continuing to argue about who is causing the arguing to continue. (Hunting for a "fingers crossed" emoji but not finding it.)
